Akamai launched Net usage Index for News and Net usage Index for Retail sometime back. They show the current usage of News and Retail sites around the world. Both these indices are meant to be indicative and not comprehensive as not all news/online retail sites currently use Akamai. Many of the participating sites for news and retail are the leaders in their segments of business. To go with these, some Konfabulator Yahoo! widgets were also released to add some eye-candy as well as some information on your desktop.
Also some selected research papers by Akamai Engineers are now available via the website.
