| » Goa Linux geeks meet |
Last BLUG meet, Devdas proposed that we do something different for the next BLUG meet. So we decided to go to Goa. Me (segphault, vinayak), Devdas (devdas,f3ew), Gopal (t3rmin4t0r), Pankaj (spo0nman) and Raj Shekar(lunatech) were free during the weekend. Devdas made most of the arrangements with the help of Aravind of the Goa-Lug.
Day 0,1
We met at Forum on friday evening and got to Panaji the next morning. Aravind picked us up and drove us to the resort. In the afternoon we went to Calangute beach and had food at one of the shacks there. The taste of the fresh fish is so different !!! I have missed it since I have moved out of Mumbai.
In the Evening we strolled at the beach and then went to CCD to get the tickets for the journey back. More fish was on the cards at dinner.
At the Beach
Day 2 We spent most of the day at Fred's place talking about random FOSS and tech stuff. Fred said that there needs to be more co-ordination at the national level for evangelising Linux. Devdas and Aravind also pitched in saying that we need to increase the use of FOSS in government and education. FOSS.in has some talks related to this. Also since a lot of people involved with FOSS will get together during this event it might be a good time to discuss about these initiatives. Rest of the evening was spent at CCD discussing random stuff. Karunakar also joined us at CCD. We also happened to see a guy there wearing a T-Shirt saying "Are you GNUed?" from Vellore Institute of technology. Obviously, someone must have had a GNU/Linux event there.

Update : Another Hackfest is planned in December (New Year time). The place has not been decided. Among the contenders for having it are Kerala backwaters and Pondicherry as of now.
